Welcome to Animavox ("we", "our", "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application. Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this policy, please do not access the application.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect includes:
Personal Data
When you choose to sign in with Apple, we may collect your first name. We do not request your email address. Sign in with Apple is optional and not required to use the app. Your name is used solely to personalise your in-app greeting and experience, and is stored locally on your device.
Device & Sensor Data
Animavox accesses device sensors including the magnetometer, barometer, accelerometer, gyroscope, camera, microphone, and LiDAR sensor (where available). The app also accesses your photo library with your permission to allow media attachments in investigations. All sensor readings are processed locally on your device and are never transmitted to our servers.
Location Data
With your permission, we may collect your device's GPS coordinates to tag investigation entries. We request "When In Use" location access only — we never track your location in the background. Location data is stored locally on your device and optionally synced to your personal iCloud account if you are a Premium subscriber. We do not have access to your iCloud data. Your coordinates may also be sent to the Open-Meteo weather API when you request temperature data for an investigation.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- • Provide, operate, and maintain the application
- • Personalise your in-app experience (greeting, preferences)
- • Process and manage subscription purchases via Apple In-App Purchases
- • Improve the application based on anonymised usage analytics
- • Respond to support enquiries
4. Data Storage & Security
All investigation data, sensor recordings, audio files, and media are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. Premium subscribers may opt in to iCloud sync via Apple's CloudKit, which is encrypted and managed by Apple. We do not operate our own servers for user data storage. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- • RevenueCat — for subscription management via Apple In-App Purchases. RevenueCat processes purchase tokens but does not receive personal data beyond what Apple provides.
- • Apple CloudKit (iCloud) — for optional cloud sync of investigations, log entries, and media attachments. This feature is available to Premium subscribers only. Data is stored in your private iCloud database and we do not have access to it.
- • TelemetryDeck — for privacy-friendly, anonymised usage analytics. TelemetryDeck does not use cookies, does not track users across apps, and does not collect personal identifiers. We use it to understand which features are most popular and to improve the app.
- • Google AdMob — for serving non-intrusive banner advertisements to free-tier users. AdMob may collect device information for ad delivery. Premium subscribers are not shown any advertisements.
- • Open-Meteo — a free, open-source weather API used to fetch current temperature data during investigations. When you request weather data, your approximate location coordinates are sent to the Open-Meteo API. No personal identifiers are transmitted.
6. Advertising
Free-tier users may see non-intrusive banner advertisements served by Google AdMob. We do not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework and do not request your IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers). No personalised or targeted ads are served. Premium subscribers enjoy a completely ad-free experience.
7. Camera, Microphone & Photo Library
Animavox requires camera access for the SLS Camera and LiDAR Scanner features, and microphone access for the EVP Recorder. The app also requests access to your photo library to allow you to attach media to investigation log entries. All camera and audio data is processed in real-time on your device. EVP recordings are saved locally as M4A audio files in the app's documents directory and are never uploaded to external servers unless you choose to sync via iCloud (Premium only).
8. Children's Privacy
Animavox is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
9. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. Since data is stored locally on your device, you can delete all app data by uninstalling the application. For iCloud-synced data, you can manage this through your device's iCloud settings. For any data-related requests, please contact us at the email below.
